Sedov to visit Norway

The world’s largest traditional sailing ship, Sedov, will visit Bergen and Oslo next spring.

Sedov sails as a training vessel with cadets from Murmansk State Technical University. The 4-masted steel barque will first visit Bergen on the Norwegian west-coast before she sail to Oslo on May 17th, the Norwegian national day, reports the boat magazine Havna.com.

Sedov has visited Norway before, and is a regular participant in the Tall Ships’ Races.

Sedov was originally built in Germany in 1921 with the name Magdalene Vinnen II. She was renamed Kommodore Johnsen in 1936. She came under Russian state ownership after the surrender of Germany in 1945.
