Rosneft wants Arctic tax breaks

Russian oil major Rosneft want reduced tax on investments for drilling in the Arctic.

President of the state-owned oil company, Sergey Bogdanchikov, says exploration drilling in the offishore Arctic can be done with far less certainty than in other areas. Therefore, it he asks for tax breaks for Arctic development, reports, Petroleum News.

During the Murmansk International Economical Forum, BarentsObserver reported that Bogdanchikov also said Rosneft is ready to let foreigners into their projected offshore fields in the Arctic.

However, Sergey Bogdanchikov stressed that foreign companies should not be allowed to get license rights to Russian offshore fields in the Arctic.
