Cross-border bad air
Winds from the east have over the last few days brought poor air quality to a number of Finnish cities.
The pollution stems from fires and industry in Russia, the Ukraine and Belarus, Yle reports. According to the Helsinki Metropolitan Area Council (YTV), the volume of fine particles was five times normal levels on Tuesday. According to the broadcaster, the pollutant level has been high to the extent that it is visible to the plain eye. The poor air quality can trigger strong reactions in people with allergies or asthma
