Norwegian aviation company with domestic flights in Finland
The Norwegian aviation company Norwegian enhances its focus on Finland. Next year the company will have 100 weekly flights to and from Helsinki and establish routes between the Finnish capital and the northern towns of Rovaniemi and Oulo.
Norwegian entered the Finnish market in April 2010 with flights from Helsinki to Oslo and Stockholm. Nest year the company plans to establish a base at the Vantaa airport in Helsinki. – We believe the Finnish market is ready for more destinations and affordable tickets, says Managing Director Bjørn Kjos in a press release.
Norwegian plans to have four daily flights between Helsinki and Oulo and one daily flight between Helsniki and Rovaniemi - both towns are located in Northern Finland. The connections will open on March 31 2011.
In May 2011 the company plans to establish flights from Helsinki to nine different destinations in Europe, including Copenhagen, London, Nice, Barcelona and Malaga.
Norwegian Air Shuttle ASA, commercially branded “Norwegian,” is a public low-cost airline noted on the Oslo Stock Exchange. The company is the second largest airline in Scandinavia, and has a route portfolio that stretches across Europe into North Africa and the Middle East. With more than 10.7 million passengers in 2009, Norwegian is the 4th largest low-cost airline in Europe. The turnover in 2009 was in excess of NOK 7.2 billion, the company’s web page reads.
