Midnight sun - love it or hate it?
This is how people and animals in the north of Norway cope with 24-hour summer sunshine.
Above the Arctic Circle, the sun never dips below the horizon in summer. This offers those living in Tromsø, northern Norway, a wealth of new experiences. We go on a kayaking tour near Sommarøy Island, visit the world's northernmost animal park, and an Arctic organic farm.
"The midnight sun just throws you all off. When you're supposed to sleep, it's still light," a tourist from Holland told the Barents Observer during a midnight kayaking tour.
"Instead of being confused, people should just enjoy nature", farmer Bård Andreassen underlines.
"In summer, we here in Tromsø feel less fatigued physically but also mentally,"
Steffen R. Aasen, PhD student at UiT The Arctic University of Norway added.
