Apatit wants Shtokman gas
Fertilizer giant Apatit want to use natural gas from the Shtokman field for its production facilities in the Kola Peninsula, the company confirms.
Apatit, which produces about 85 percent of all fertilizers used in Russia, sees major benefits from the Shtokman gas, MBnews.ru reports. The company, which was one of the main sponsors of last week’s Murmansk Economic Forum, has will depend on the natural gas if its development plans are to be fulfilled. The development of the Shtokman field will enable Gazprom to start the gasification of the Murmansk Oblast. That is expected to become a major stimulator of new regional industry. As previously reported by BarentsObserver, an estimated five percent of the gas is planned spent in Northwest Russia.
