Another gas finding in the Norwegian Sea
The Norwegian Sea is about the develop into Norway’s new gas province. This month StatoilHydro made another finding in the area.
The finding was made in the well Idun Nord, about 12 km north of the Skarv field operated by BP.
StatoilHydro so far estimates the volume of the deposit to between 0,6 and 3 billion cubic meters. The company will consider to link the field up with with the infrastructure of the Skarv project, a press release from StatoilHydro reads.
StatoilHydro owns 60 percent of the license while E.ON. Ruhrgas owns the remaining 40 percent. The drilling was made with the Ocean Vanguard rig.
The Norwegian Sea will in the years to come turn into a vital gas region for Norway. BP plans the launch of the Skarv field in 2011. Several other findings have been made in the area, among them the promising Gro field.
