Dmitriyenko, Miller discussed Shtokman development

Governor of Murmansk Dmitry Dmitriyenko yesterday met with Gazprom leader Aleksey Miller to discuss the development of the Shtokman field.

The two leaders also discussed the new cooperation agreement between the parts, a document currently under elaboration. The agreement will cover the period 2010-2015 and have the Shtokman field its centerpiece, the Murmansk regional administration informs.

The agreement will include cooperation on the facilitation of field developments like construction and gas transportation infrastructure in Murmansk Oblast. The current cooperation agreement between Murmansk and Gazprom was signed in 2005.

Up to five percent of the Shtokman gas is planned spent in Northwest Russia. Murmansk Oblast, which today gets it power supplies from hydro power, nuclear power and thermal power plants will be extensively gasified following the field development.

In yesterday’s meeting, Dmitriyenko and Miller also discussed infrastructure development in Teriberka, the main hub for the Shtokman project. Murmansk calls on Gazprom to observe environmental security and rationally use the affected land in the area.

The Shtokman project is planned taken into production in 2013.
