Cargo turnover i Arkhangelsk Port drops sharply

Arkhangelsk Port has had a 34.5 percent drop in cargo turnover in the first nine months of 2009compared to the same period in 2008. Altogether 2.536 million tons were handled by the port.

Export cargo turnover dropped 31.4 percent Transshipment of paper and pulp is reduced with 46.2 percent while coal went down over 80 percent. Export of oil products was reduced with 1.4 percent in the period, Portnews.ru reports.

The total import cargo turnover actually had a 21.5 percent growth, but this does not concern container traffic, which showed a nearly 60 percent decline.
