Russian reserves down another 30 billion USD

Russia’s international reserves in the period 9-16 January shrunk 30,3 billion USD, leaving the country with total reserves of 396,2 billion USD. That is down more than 30 percent from August 2008.

The all-time high of the Russian reserves was reached on 15 August 2008 when they had a value of 598,1 USD, figures from the Russian Central Bank show. Since then, the reserves have shrunk steadily, reaching a low of 396,1 billion USD on 16 January, RIA Novosti reports.

Deputy head of the Russian Ministry of Economic Development, Andrey Klepach has earlier said that the Russian reserves in 2009 might decrease another 140 billion USD.
